Covington (CNS) -- Funeral services for John L. Fields, 93, retired farmer and native of Warren County, will be at 2 p. m. Friday at Benson Chapel Church west of Covington. The Rev. J. A. Knight and the Rev. Robert J. Lyons will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Mound Cemetery with Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home of Covington in charge. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Fountain Lodge 60, F&AM. The body is at the funeral home where brief services for the family will be held at 1:15 p. m. Friday prior to the church services. Mr. Fields died at 12:15 p. m. Tuesday (Mar. 27, 1951) at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Mallett of Danville Route 5. He had been in ill health three months. Mr. Fields was born Aug. 5, 1857, in Warren County, Ind., the son of Edward and Eliza Steely Fields. He married Rachel B. Henderson, Jan. 9, 1884, who preceded him in death in 1913. He was the last of a family of six children. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Mallett, Danville Route 5; Mrs. Jennie L. McIntosh, Covington; Mrs. Ida E. Hacker, Indianapolis; a son, Archie Fields of Danville Route 5; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Ethel Rouse, preceded him in death. Mr. Fields, a member of Fountain Lodge F&AM, was a Mason for more than 60 years. He was a member of the Benson Chapel Church and was a trustee of Mound Township from 1904 to 1908.  --typed by Walt W
